Non-power cut units enter all health centers in northern Syria
On the twentieth of August, Watan started the implementation of the "uninterrupted electrical systems" project for thirty health centers in the city of Idlib and the northern countryside of Idlib and Aleppo. The technical teams of Watan completed the installation of all electrical equipment within the steel structure. The electrical wiring work for 20 units of non-outage units, conducting the connection, and adjustment of the "inverters" were completed.
The process of inspecting all materials and ensuring their compliance with the technical requirements were also concluded, and a timeline for the supply was agreed upon after signing the contract with the contractor responsible for supplies of maintenance equipment.
Work is now underway to build a three-dimensional diagram showing the internal components of the models and preparing the training material. It will give a detailed explanation of the system and all its components, and the operating manual for each model, that explains the mechanism of operation, stopping, maintenance, and malfunctions.
To expand the scope of intervention, Watan coordinated with the Health Directorate in Idlib and the western countryside of Aleppo to nominate the names of a number of health centers with the aim of conducting a technical assessment on the possibility of providing them with UPSs. 10 centers affiliated to the Idlib Health Directorate and one center affiliated to the Aleppo Health Directorate were nominated.
The centers nominated were visited in coordination with the health directorates, while taking all preventive measures to prevent the contraction of the coronavirus. The technical team of Watan surveyed the centers and services they provide and the medical devices that need electrical non-outage units, and was able to know the capacity required for each center, the degree of importance, and the number of beneficiaries of the services of those centers.
During the visit, the team explained the project’s goal and presented the importance of the "UPS" project and its role in solving potential problems of medical devices, in addition to the system's role in stabilizing the devices' work and mitigating faults, and explaining the system's working mechanism in a simple way.
It is expected that the number of beneficiaries of the project, after approval of the additional centers, will reach 265,600 beneficiaries, and the intervention will increase the number of working hours in health centers , the quality, performance, and age of medical devices. It may also lead to a decrease in the risk of medical devices failure during surgeries and reduce maintenance costs.
