When a family loses the first line of support the father or in worst cases both parents, not only does the child have to cope with the tragedy of losing someone very dear, but also the loss of a regular source of income, which provided them the basic requirments in life.
The orphan that has lost one or both of their parents as a result of war is subjected to the mercy of their unjust living conditions which threaten their basic rights as a child. From the absence of safety and shelter to dropping out of school to the risk of early marriage or employment.
The number of orphans in Syria is estimated to be 800,000 orphans. More than 50% of whom do not receive necessary care.
The Child and Orphan Care Project was launched by WATAN in 2013, as the need for this project increases every day with the increase of orphans, children with special needs and children affected by the ongoing war. Beneficiaries including psychological, health, educational and nutritional support and empowerment and sustainability projects in the livelihoods of the guardians of orphans you can become part of their future.
The project has successfully reached more than 16,000 beneficiaries over five years.
