Job Summary

    Overview:

    WATAN seeks a Field protection officer to monitor and implement protection activities in a major humanitarian project aiming at supporting households affected by the earthquake in Hatay who are living in tents to be relocated to dignified shelter units. The selected candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the protection measures are implemented for targeted families and will work closely with diverse groups, including women-headed families, children living with care providers, people with disabilities, and older adults.

Position Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in social sciences, psychology, or related fields of study.
    • Previous experience in protection, working in a similar position within an NGO or INGO.
    • Experience in capacity building, facilitating focus groups, and PSEA / children protection training.
    • Experience in protection monitoring of activities within a humanitarian context.
    • Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English in addition to Arabic or Turkish (both are highly preferable).
    • Good command of MS Word and MS Excel.
    • MHPSS and CCCM experience is a plus.

Responsibility

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Conduct assessments and family verification procedures in coordination with the M&E team.
    • Develop and implement training on PSEA/children protection and facilitate Focus Groups for targeted families.
    • Daily on-site monitoring of protection integration while implementing activities for targeted families.
    • Identify different types of groups and ensure social cohesion and equal representation of targeted families.
    • Design a complaint tool to be linked to future site management.
    • Ensure an effective information management system between families, management, and government authorities.
    • Coordinate with authorities and related stakeholders to ensure the rights of women, children, the elderly, and people with disabilities.
    • Join protection Work Groups of Türkiye and the Earthquake response protection group to be able to report and keep track of related technical updates.
    • Any other relevant tasks required by the line manager.
