Job Summary

     Health project grants, will be responsible for overall project management and ensuring that project objectives/ implementation are on track/budget as per donor requirement, ensure implementation and documentation according to donor/partner/other stakeholder compliance requirements, and assist in grant development

Position Requirements

    Minimum education, training and experience requirements to qualify for the position:

    • Bachelor or Post Graduate University degree in Health, Business Management, and International Development, and is preferred to be with a healthy background.
    • Experience in managing grants.
    • Experience with health projects.
    • Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
    • A minimum of 4-6 years operational humanitarian experience with minimum of 3 years in a leadership role in an emergency context.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of International Human Rights Law, International Humanitarian Law, Refugee Law, the relevant positions of the UN, ICRC and major NGOs on protection of civilians in particular of IDPs, women and children, the codes of conduct, the Humanitarian Charter, The Sphere Project, etc.
    • Proven experience in training, including development of training materials.
    • Essential: Strong English communication skills (oral and written)
    • Desirable: Good working knowledge of Arabic (oral and written)
    • Cultural sensitivity and adaptability
    • Strong communication skills with ability to express ideas and concepts clearly and persuasively with senior members of the humanitarian community as well as with field practitioners.

Responsibility

    Major Activities

    1. Grant Management

     

    •  Lead and coordinate on Project Cycle Management (PCM), including initiating the GRM process

    •  Led the grants unit in the submission of high-quality activity and donor reporting on a timely basis according to Organization and donor regulations. Ensure all required documents are included, complete, and correct, and approved by the respective Program Coordinators, Partnership Unit focal points, and country management.

    •  Ensure that partner capacity building is a key component of all program plans in development for upcoming awards.

     Provide technical guidance on Organization and donor regulations to ensure compliance within operations, program implementation, and reporting. Raise compliance issues proactively with program staff and the senior staff in relevant departments.

    Keep the PM and senior management informed of any projected inabilities to meet contractual obligations, report submission and spend rates/significant budget variances.  Also, be able to proactively mitigate risks by proposing remedial solutions.

    • Ensure quality information management related to grants by overseeing the regular maintenance of grant files, reporting calendars, and updating of internal Organization documentation and Grant tools. Maintain proper records of all Grants and sub-grants.

    • Act as focal point in facilitating Project report reviews and approvals by donor and partners

    Review and maintain implementation, procurement and monitoring plans;

    Manage project team in a manner that encourages cooperation, communication,

      Establish a good communication channel with the donor and conduct follow up and reporting meetings.

    Monitor monthly spending on ongoing & planned activities within the approved budget/s.

    Review monthly, quarterly, semi and final reports.

    1. Staff Management

    •         Participate in identifying partners and monitor & maintain relationship with partners;

    •         Regularly engage with Program/Program Support departments staff to ensure uninterrupted information flow on project implementation;

    •         Ensure that reporting from the program staff are provided in a timely manner;

    •         Establish alternative information sharing systems (regular meetings, shared web-engines, etc.);

    •         Engage with sector specialists to ensure project alignment with technical standards and best practice.

    1. Coordination

    •         Coordinate operations under the project with relevant departments;

    •         Coordinate operations under the project with other NGOs operating in the area of project 4- implementation;

    •         Conduct weekly/monthly meetings with staff;

    •         Participate in external coordination (Clusters, WGs).

    •            Other tasks assigned by Line Manager
