Job Summary

    WATAN foundation in Turkey, is providing humanitarian assistance to people affected by the Syrian crisis, both in Syria and Turkey. WATAN is starting a new project responding to the needs of refugees in Mersin  in July 2018.

    Managed by the Hub Manager and working in collaboration with program and technical staff in the Mersin Hub Center, the Service Mapping Coordinator will coordinate with local hospitals, related facilities and other international and local organizations to establish referral systems. S/he will be based in Mersin with often travel to Izmir. Turkish is required. Arabic or English is necessary.

    He/she will ensure that agreed procedures are followed and connections are made between the beneficiaries and service providers. S/he will be supporting Hub Manager when it is necessary.

Position Requirements

    • Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences or a similar subject.
    • Line management and staff management experience.
    • At least 2 years’ experience working on humanitarian aid programs, including work with refugee populations.
    • Prior experience in Protection Programmes.
    • A team player.
    • Experience working with a partner.
    • Excellent planning and communication skills.
    • Strong report writing and documentation skills.
    • Fluent spoken and written Turkish and English.
    • Solid computer skills, especially in MS Outlook, MS Word and MS Excel.
    • Ability to work effectively with an ethnically diverse team in a sensitive environment.
    • Spoken Arabic and/or English.
    • Prior experience of participating in humanitarian coordination mechanisms.
    • Management experience.

Responsibility

    • Implementation of the activities in coordination with Hub Manager.
    • Contacting with service providers’ in each neighbourhood to collect the information in two different cities and directing beneficiaries to related service providers.
    • Attending protection sessions to support and provide necessary information to beneficiaries.
    • Coordinating with Psychologists and PSS Counsellor when there is exceptional cases and needs to be addressed to related service providers.
    • Contributing to high quality implementation of refugee response.

     

    Roles and responsibilities

    • Ensuring coordination of project activities through Watan Foundation HQ with the support of Project Manager and Hub Manager (25%)
      • Work with the Project Manager and Hub Manager to coordinate the necessary support for project activities in Mersin.
      • Representation of WATAN Foundation in relevant coordination mechanisms.
    • Support Hub Centre Workers with the planning and implementation of protection activities planned in Mersin (30%).
      • Coordinate with Hub Centre Workers and local service providers in the planning and implementation of protection activities.
      • Support project activities in the field , when necessary.
      • Provide input and support to development of protection procedures, project materials, curricula etc.
      • Support in technical reporting of project activities.
    • Ensure timely and quality reporting of project progress to HQ and Project Managers (25%).
      • Supporting Hub Manager for compiling monthly summary reports for activities.
    • Contribute to high quality implementation of refugee response (20%)
      • Ensure that Watan’s humanitarian mission and principles are clearly communicated to relevant stakeholders and that a fair and transparent beneficiary selection process is established and shared widely.
      • Contribute to regular project monitoring and technical oversight.
      • Ensure that feedback received from community members is used to continually improve activities and that activities are meeting the needs of the communities.
