Job Summary

    WATAN Foundation, together with its partners is providing humanitarian assistance to people affected by the Syrian crisis, both in Syria and Turkey.

    Managed by the Protection Case Worker and working in collaboration with technical staff based in Mersin or Izmir, the Protection Outreach Worker will be responsible for disseminating information about the protection project implemented by WATAN and will be conducting visits to local authorities.

Position Requirements

    • Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences or a similar subject.
    • At least 1 year experience working on humanitarian aid programs, including work with refugee populations.
    • Prior experience in Protection Programmes as volunteer or intern.
    • Enthusiastic to work in the field on daily basis.
    • A team player.
    • Excellent planning and communication skills.
    • Strong report writing and documentation skills.
    • Fluent spoken and written Arabic and/or Turkish.
    • Solid computer skills, especially in MS Outlook, MS Word and MS Excel.
    • Ability to work effectively with an ethnically diverse team in a sensitive environment.
    • Spoken English.
    • Prior experience of participating in humanitarian coordination mechanisms.

Responsibility

    • To perform quality vulnerability assessment, protection monitoring, and data collection.
    • To act as a focal point towards beneficiaries, to inform them about available assistance, their rights and obligations under the law, and complaints mechanisms in place.
    • To report on collected data of the assessed and followed beneficiaries.
    • To perform quality vulnerability assessment, protection monitoring, and data collection.
    • She / he will work as part of an outreach team to reach and find more beneficiaries in new areas depending on project criteria.
    • She / he will work as part of a mobile/outreach team to work with community members to identify vulnerable beneficiaries and conduct home visit assessments of potential beneficiaries in the host community acting in the most professional way.
    • She / he conduct protection monitoring exercises, including Key Informant Interviews, Focus Group Discussions, and household interviews.
    • She / he establishes good relations with local authorities and community members to get a clear understanding of the situation and needs in the communities.
    • She / he participates in the quality data collection for surveys and any relevant data collection or assessment implemented.
